What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is as simple as active imagination plus focused attention in a relaxed
state. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. In other words, I can facilitate a hypnotic trance in another person, but
only if that person is willing to have the hypnotic experience. In trance, I can create therapeutic images through metaphors,
evoke positive and empowering memories or use positive affirmations to enable the individual to achieve the change he/she
wanted. Incorporated in a sound treatment plan, it is useful in addressing issues like: building confidence, overcoming fears,
phobias, anxiety, interpersonal problems and stress, weight loss and smoking cessation.
So, what is the value of self hypnosis?
Anyone can benefit from using self hypnosis. At minimum, it creates a
relaxed focused state that lessens stress and relieves anxiety. Used along with positive affirmations or selected imagery
it can do much more.
